20200509-0908 instant sculpture, 2020
61 x 91 cm, reproduction on canvas, limited edition
The original painting was generated in an instant. Super-fast. But in a way even this repro still contains and spatially embodies the extremely focused seconds it took me to bring this into being.
Always the earlier parts of the stroke are spatially further back. The last bits must always in the front. This produces the perspective illusion of a curved space-time-continuum that is not real at all.
This analog process feels different from working in my 3D-software where I can digitally manipulate rotate or twist the sculpture to my liking for as long as I care to do so.
This is why these conceptual paintings are called “Instant Sculptures”. There is no changing or fidgeting around. They are how they are, frozen in time, but the dynamic draftsman`s gesture or painterly action or intuitive drive that brought these pieces to life can still be felt.
The original acrylics painting on canvas has found a new home in a private collection. But fortunately this on demand reproduction is available as a high quality print on canvas:
• Acid-free, PH-neutral, poly-cotton base
• Canvas fabric weight: 13.9 oz/yd2 (470 g/m²)
• Fade-resistant
• Hand-stretched over solid wood stretcher bars
• Matte finish coating
• 1.5″ (3.81 cm) deep
• Mounting brackets included
• Blank product in the EU sourced from Latvia
• Blank product in the US sourced from the US
This product is made especially for you as soon as you place an order, which is why it takes us a bit longer to deliver it to you. Making products on demand instead of in bulk helps reduce overproduction, so thank you for making thoughtful purchasing decisions!
